ELE Shop: Five of our Favourite Coffee Table Books

Beautiful coffee table books are a gorgeous addition to any home and can be a great reference guide – though to be honest we often buy them for their beautiful covers and photography!  These are some of our current favourites.

1. Peonies: Beautiful Varieties for Home & Garden

Jane Eastoe’s stunning book on beautiful Peonies is not only a visual feast but has great, practical advise on a over fifty varieties of peony, including when each will bloom, flower size and pictures for easy identification. It provides information on the easiest varieties to grow and which make the best cut flowers.  A must for any peony lover.

1. A Kitchen in France: A Year of Cooking in My Farmhouse

Flicking through Mimi Thorisson’s delightful A Kitchen in France makes us long for a French country lifestyle, complete with a historic chateau and an abundance of home grown produce.  The beautiful recipes have a distinctively rustic French flavour and inspire us to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon cooking up a storm, with a glass of French wine in hand of course.

3.Plant: Exploring the Botanical World

Gardeners and art lovers alike will enjoy this exquisite book that has some of the most beautiful botanical images we have ever seen.  The cover alone is reason enough to own a copy, but once you open the pages you will be in awe of some of the rare and previously unpublished images that await.

4.Poolside with Slim Aarons

Ever dreamt of a glamorous beach side lifestyle mixing it with the rich and well-connected?  If you have then this book is for you!  With striking images of bikini-clad women, yachts and handsome bronzed men this book is a rare glimpse in to the lives of the rich and famous through the fifties, sixties, seventies and eighties.  Be warned it may have you booking your next trip to the Amalfi coast.

  3. For myself, the best coffee table books are photography books by John Hedgecoe, and any copy of the Holy Bible, KJV. INTERESTING POST.
