K-beauty can be an intimidating section of the beauty market for a lot of us, however Innisfree as a brand boasts over 20 million customers across the globe. A couple of months ago I went to their Melbourne store to grab a few products and to see what has been drawing people the world over to this skincare juggernaut.
Green Tea Seed Eye Cream
I’d been on the hunt for a new eye cream for a couple of months when someone suggested the Green Tea Seed Eye Crean, which has quickly become a staple in my daily routine. It’s moisturising without being too oily, however make sure you let it soak in before you apply makeup over the top of it.
Green tea has antioxidants for protection and clinical studies have shown that it helps with moisture retention, so it’s a real dream as an active ingredient in an eye cream. If you’re in your twenties or early thirties and looking for an eye cream that is preventative rather than treating an issue then the Green Tea Seed Eye Cream is a great idea for you!
Green Tea Lip Balm
What would it take to get our ELE Editor to give up her favourite Chanel Lip Balm? Apparently a $12 green and white tube from Innisfree.
Since I started trialling Innisfree a couple of months ago for this review these little tubes have become more and more prevalent amongst ELE writers, and I can’t imagine any of us giving them up any time soon.
Over the last 18 months I’ve been trying to move away from pawpaw ointment as my lip balm of choice, and it has been a struggle. This lip balm has been extremely moisturising, while not feeling heavy, and I like the shine that it gives without being sticky. My only complaint about this lip balm is that it runs out REALLY QUICKLY, when you swipe it you seem to use a lot of product, so it’s really easy to run a tube down in just a couple of weeks.
Jeju Pomegranate Revitalising Serum
As you would know from my recent article, anything that contains the word ‘revitalising’ is usually using Niacinamide as a key ingredient, and no surprises here but Innisfree’s Jeju Pomegranate Revitalising Serum is chock-full of your favourite this skin loving Vitamin B3.
For several weeks I switched out my usual niacinamide serum for the Jeju Pomegranate Revitaliding Serum and was pleasantly surprised by the consistency in results and the value of the larger bottle size. I used this daily for literally weeks and I still have half a bottle left, what a bloody bargain mate! But more importantly, switching between this and my usual serum has had no negative impacts on my skin, which is rare given how temperamental my largest organ can be.
Sheet Masks
Innisfree sheet masks are cheap as chips, my issue with this is that it seems to be at the cost of the sheet quality. The sheets are a heavy mesh-like material that I found difficult to get to stick to my skin, to the point that they were uncomfortable to wear and I was removing them before I felt the serum had the opportunity to do anything.
If you wanted to buy some sheet masks for a birthday party so you could do a pamper sesh for Instagram stories then yeah, these are the products for you, but if you want something more substantial then I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
Capsule Packs
The girls at ELE we’re really keen for me to try the Sleeping Masks. I hadn’t used a sleep mask before and so I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I’ll give just about anything a go. Unsurprisingly, this was a Green Tea mask, but when I opened the capsule I was surprised that it was clear, every single different green tea product I got from Innisfree was a different colour.
To use the sleep mask I did my usual nightly routine, but instead of using my Go-To VUFC, I painted this on my face and went to bed. I have to say, I can live without sleep masks. I stuck to the pillowcase, which I had to wash the next day because I only have one silk pillowcase, and I couldn’t even really see what the difference was for my skin between this and just using a regular moisturiser. After my somewhat mixed impression of the sleep mask, I was a bit hesitant to try another capsule pack. But what I really loved about the Rose & Calamine Wash-off Capsule Pack was that it actually contains rose and calamine, you could see the natural ingredients in the pot as soon as you open it. It was a super fun mask to pop on while I had a bath and dreamed that I was a bougie person in a bathtub that isn’t so small I always have my knees bent!
It also smells divine and a couple of weeks after initially trying it I actually took a chunk of the mask and dissolved it into a bath to make it a beautiful rose and calamine full-body experience. Would recommend.
