There have been a few fashion on screen moments that have stopped the world in its tracks featuring some of the most beautiful and beloved starlets styled in show stopping outfits. Below we have listed 10 of our favourite iconic screen moment that has been etched in fashion history.

1. Basic Instinct

Sharon Stone in the 1992 neo-noir erotic thriller Basic Instinct. That white dress!

2. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

1961 classic romantic comedy Breakfast at Tiffany’s starring Audrey Hepburn is an all time classic- from the pearls and oversized sunglasses to the man shirts and sleeping mask and to the trench coat and soaking wet cat. No wonder this film is iconic for fashion.

3. The Devil Wears Prada

There were so many fashion moments in this film although the first time when Anne Hathaway’s character Andy Sachs, steps out of fashion faildom to Miss Style was a fashion moment we all cheered for, especially when Emily stutters are you wearing?.. and Andy replies, Chanel Boots?

4. Flash Dance

Not a whole heap of outfits going on in the iconic dance scene with Jennifer Beals in Flash Dance but the moment she takes off her bra from under her grey sweatshirt in the most nonchalant way will go down in history as one of the sexiest fashion scenes of all time.

4. Legally Blonde

Legally Blonde (2001) Reese Witherspoon

Reece Witherspoon as Elle Woods in a pink leather driving suit in the film Legally Blonde was a moment we all cheered for. Teamed with pink bag, sunnies and puppy dressed in you guessed it, pink! Owning every step she takes in this wildly distinctive look. Elle, we love it!

5. The Seven Year Itch

Who can forget Marilyn Monroe’s white pleat dress blowing up across the subway grates in the 1955 classic The Seven Year Itch? Ms Monroe chose to give us one of the most iconic fashion moments the world has seen. In 2014 the iconic white dress sold at auction for $4.5 million dollars.

6. The Royal Tenenbaums

Gwyneth Paltrow’s kohl-eyed tennis dresses and moth-eaten mink coat wearing Margot is the film’s most memorable image and has been a source of inspiration for fashion designers for the past 15 years.

7. Emily in Paris

As we all sat in lockdown across the globe, Lily Collins lit up of screens with glamour and style as she tripped across Paris in a whirlwind of designer outfits. Not the most iconic but definitely best for bringing fashion to our living rooms when we really needed it!

8. Sex and the City

Patricia Field changed the way women across the universe saw fashion and personal style, giving us fashion moment after fashion moment for the best part of a decade. The daring, iconic fun and sassy looks styled on the actresses of SATC made us fall in love with fashion and made us wish we had best friends with wardrobes like theirs.

9. Gossip Girl

The upper east side girls Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl not only made them both household names but Serena’s looks enchanted us with free-spirited dresses and dangly bohemian jewellery while Blair’s style inspired a generation with her preppy capes, coats, and signature headbands.
