This time of year incorporating a face oil into your skin regime will give you an extra layer of much needed hydration. Read our tips on how to use face oils in your skincare routine.
When to use Face Oils
Do use face oils at night, when you skin sebum production is at its lowest, your skin will be free of any makeup and the oils can be most effective.
Do use your face oil as the last step in your skincare regime, following your serums and moisturisers.
If you have particularly dry skin you can add 2-3 drops of face oil to your moisturiser in the morning to give you a little extra hydration.
How Much to Use
Don’t use too much oil, 3-4 drops of oil should be enough for most skin types, make sure that you pat the oil in and don’t rub it as this is more gentle on the skin. A gua shu or face massage tool is ideal to apply your face oil while giving your face a light massage.
How to Store Face Oils
Always keep oils in a cool, dark spot to ensure that your oils remain fresh and effective. Keep oils under 30C and out of direct sunlight.
Most oils are best used within 3 months of purchase.
