Interviews Other People

My Weekend with Courtney Hancock

Courtney Hancock is a Champion Ironwoman, three-time Coolangatta Gold winner and first person in Australian Surf Sports history to win the triple crown of elite events in the same year. Courtney is also a Red Paddle Co Ambassador, plus a mentor and coach. We catch up with Courtney and find out how she spends her downtime.

Friday Night

For a long time now Friday afternoon and nights I have dedicated to me. I don’t plan anything in particular, but I just make sure I keep it slow. A walk along the beach, home for a bath and then a rom-com has been popular Friday for me lately.

Saturday AM

Saturday AM is usually jam packed!!! Up at 5am for Ironwoman training at 6am, depending on what I am training for, this will go from 1.5-3.5 hours. Afterwards I train the nippers (young Australian surf lifesavers) at Tallebudgera Surf Club.

Saturday PM

I hit the cold/hot baths for some great recovery at the end of the week. I find this really helps with stress, my lymphatic system an overall recovery. Then it is off to a date night with my fiancé or we will go out with our friends.

Sunday AM

No alarm set! Although I do love getting up early I believe it is important to have that one day at least the alarm is your body clock. As soon as I am up I make a quick blueberry/banana smoothie grab my Red Paddle Co Inflatable Paddleboard and hit Tallebudgera creek for my favorite movement of the week.

Sunday PM

Usually looks a bit like Friday, taking my dogs for walk, watching the footy, homemade pizzas and jumping into bed early so I can start the week off fresh.
