Passionate About Food? You Could Run A Takeaway From Your Own Kitchen

You’re quite the budding chef. You’re passionate about food. You’d love to cook for other people more often. And above all, you’ve got a pretty great palette that means you always know what works and what doesn’t.

So, with all these elements thrown together into the mixing pot, there’s a very good chance you could set up and run a thriving takeaway business!

However, the overheads of such a business tend to run incredibly high. And right now, you’re not in a position where you can put together that kind of budget.

But don’t scrap your restaurant ideas just yet – you can always set up your takeaway delivery from the comfort of your own home instead!

As such, here’s what you’ll need to do to get your home ready for the food industry.

Get Your Kitchen Set Up Properly

Your kitchen probably isn’t quite up to restaurant grade cleanliness right now, no matter how clean it actually is. And that doesn’t mean your kitchen is dirty – not at all! But food hygiene standards have some very specific rules for you to follow.

For one, you may need to invest in a thermometer for your fridge, so you can be sure it’s always within the right temperature range. And not many homeowners tend to have those on hand!

For another, you’ll need to start labeling any and all ingredient jars, and not just with their names either.

There needs to be a full labeling system at work here, featuring the date the ingredient was poured into the jar, as well as the use by date for when it’ll need throwing out.

Stock Up on Delivery Supplies

Of course, if you’re going to be running a takeaway, you need to be able to get food from your kitchen to your customer without it going cold or spilling.

And there simply isn’t enough tupperware in your cupboards to make sure orders can be packed securely and hygienically!

Plus, it would be a nightmare to try and get your containers back again.

So, you’re going to need to stock up on proper delivery supplies like takeaway containers, restaurant napkins, and food seal stickers.

Take Time on Your Menu

Is there a dish you’re ‘famous’ for? Is there something you make all the time that people always dig into without a second thought, simply because they know it’ll be good?

Then you’ve got the makings of a perfect menu for your home food delivery business! But make sure you take your time in actually putting the menu together.

You don’t want to rush such a crucial part of the takeaway package, and you need to be sure you’ve accounted for all the best flavours, best complementary dishes, and any allergens that might need to be listed out on the menu.

If you’ve always wanted to start selling your own food, you can do so from home! You just need to prepare your space properly, and get into the real restaurant mindset.
