With everything starting to open up again in Melbourne there is no better time to rediscover the city! After three attempts to travel from Sydney, the stars finally aligned and off I went. Once I landed, I was filled with nostalgia of how wonderful and vibrant and fun this city, I once called home, truly is!
Wanting to stay close to both the city as well as have access to Chapel St and St Kilda I stayed at the Park Regis Griffin Suites, a great location for everything. On arrival I was greeted by a lovely receptionist, I forgot how nice Melbourne people are, and I was given everything I needed for my stay, including a map of the area if I required it, but having been a local, I was ok.
My suite was a king size suite, with a large lounge area, bathroom – with bath (I took advantage of that) a big bedroom with a very comfy bed and a great kitchen and dining area with complimentary coffee pods for the win! Everything in the room was very comfortable, I quickly settled into my weekend digs.
I like to run in the morning so I got down to Albert Park for sunrise over the city, before meet ups with friends. With trams just a stone’s throw away, you have access to all the places you want and need and everything is merely minutes away including the National Gallery Victoria, the MCG, Melbourne Theatre Company, Crown Casino, Royal Botanic Gardens and of course all the restaurants and bars, shopping, markets and culture Melbourne is famous for!
I have to say though it was so nice being a tourist in my home city, having a fantastic base, close to everything, with all the amenities I could need to live for a couple of days, apartment style, it was the perfect place for a cheeky long weekend.
