Interview with Justin Cassin and Jordan Barrett

Australian supermodel Jordan Barrett walked for designer Justin Cassin at Berlin Fashion Week, opening and closing the show. We caught up with the talented duo hot off the runway to find out more about the collection.

Justin Cassin

Tell us about your latest collection and how your design aesthetic has evolved since you first launched Justin Cassin.

The latest collection embodies that emerging feeling of optimism. People are getting back to work, entering social life again, wanting to have fun. My early designs were influenced by my life and travels but now I take more into consideration what’s happening in the world, sustainability, and how I can work with the community.

Why was showing in Berlin important for your latest collection?

Over the past 6 months, we have worked closely with retailers based in Germany to launch into Europe on their platforms. It was a natural fit to show this collection in Berlin. I’ve been constantly impressed by the people and the city.

As we are emerging post-pandemic, what styles can we expect to see on the streets this year?

You should expect to see personal styles that celebrate individuality, diversity and equality while still focusing on sustainability.

Jordan Barrett has walked for you before, what is it about Jordan’s look that works so well with your brand?

Jordan is a supermodel who is my good friend and my style muse. He is a free spirit and fun but also thoughtful and professional. I admire all he’s achieved, especially in his advocacy for mental health.

Jordan Barrett

Walking for Justin in Berlin, how did this differ from when you first walked for the label in 2017?

In 2017 I was supporting an Aussie designer launching his brand. I loved the aesthetic and really liked Justin so it felt natural to be a part of his major launch in Europe 5 years later. I’m really proud of what he’s achieved.

Which are your favourite pieces from the collection?

I love the first and closing look. I will wear the entire collection when Justin has it available for me.

What do you find inspiring about the city of Berlin?

Berlin is a cool city. The people are cool. It’s got a creative vibe that connects to fashion. I always have a great time when I’m in Berlin.

Where can we expect to see Jordan Barrett appearing next? Will we see you at Australian Fashion Week this year?

Maybe. I’m happy to support Australian fashion and designers and it’s a bonus spending time with my family and friends.
