By Leanne Shelton

Oh-oh. Was that a sniffle? A slightly watery eye?

As the change in weather sweeps in and mingles with our stressful lives, catching a cold can feel inevitable. But before you head straight to the chemist, here’s an easy-to-make immunity tea to help ease those symptoms. You probably have all of the (natural) ingredients in your fridge and pantry at home, making it a simple, inexpensive cold and flu remedy.

Ingredients

1 cup boiling water

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon manuka or raw honey

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Method

1. Pour boiling water into a large mug.

2. Add lemon juice, honey, and apple cider vinegar.

3. Stir until combined.

4. Wait until it’s cool enough to drink (or add some cold water to speed up the process).

5. Repeat throughout the day.

Health Benefits

Water When you are feeling unwell, hydration is key! Water helps replace lost fluids and flush any nasties from your body.

Lemon Juice Full of Vitamin C, lemon juice boosts your immunity and fights infections with its antibacterial properties.

Manuka or Raw Honey Manuka honey is native to New Zealand and has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant benefits. Plus, it feels great on sore throats!

Apple Cider Vinegar Yes, it’s a little potent when consumed on its own, but this fermented ingredient is filled with beneficial bacteria, prebiotics, and antibacterial properties. Apple cider vinegar is great for detoxing and enhancing circulation too.

Spice things up!

You can also add immunity-boosting spices, such as:

  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • Garlic
  • Cinnamon

We hope you enjoy your immunity tea and feel better soon!

Note this recipe for easy-to-make immunity tea is to assist with symptoms of common cold, if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 you should seek professional medical assistance immediately.
