If you suffer from dry lips you know how frustrating it can be, dry cracked lips not only look painful they can crack, bleed and itch. Here at ele we have tried everything to relieve dry lips – from sugar scrubs to Vaseline and religiously applying balms and ointments but nothing seemed to really work, until we found iS Clinical Youth Lip Elixir.
It is important to note that this is not an Ad! At ele we take our beauty reviews seriously and will never write about any product we have not thoroughly tested ourselves. If we recommend parting with your hard earned cash we want to make sure that the product really, really works.
And boy does iS Clinical deliver. We LOVE this lip product, after 2 weeks of using it every day we can report softer, plumper lips with zero cracking and dryness. It is quite possibly the best lip product we have used.
The elixir is packed full of vitamins, shea and cocoa butter, hyaluronic acid and iS Clinical’s proprietary combination of extremozymes designed to protect against environmental stressors. It is hard to describe the exact feeling of this lip product, it definitely feels more like a cream than a balm and it sinks into your lips leaving no oily residue. This should be used as an extension to your skincare regime, use it in the morning and night when you apply your moisturiser.
We aren’t going to pretend this product is cheap, at $99 AUD/$60 USD it is downright expensive for a lip cream, however it is one product we will happily splash our cash on because it actually works, those six other lip balms we have scattered around our bathroom/purse and makeup bag have all been discarded for the iS Clinical Youth Lip Elixir.
We wanted to find out more about how we keep our lips hydrated so we got in touch with Fergil Mestanov, iS Clinical expert, for his tips on protecting dry lips.
iS Clinical Youth Lip Elixir
What do we often do wrong when we are trying to protect our lips?
Using common toxic ingredients such as parabens, petroleum, phenol, propylene glycol and any sort of alcohol in lip balms is bad for the lips. These ingredients may provide an immediate cooling sensation but can irritate the skin. In some cases they even remove the outer layers of skin leaving your lips unprotected and susceptible to environmental hazards.
What tips do you have for keeping lips hydrated and protected over the cooler months?
While using lip care like iS CLINICAL’s Youth Lip Elixir is an absolute must, there are some other steps to take to ensure your lips are hydrated and protected over the cooler months.
I know this is talked about all the time but drinking enough water really does make a difference. This is one of the simplest steps you can take in keeping your lips hydrated and supple this winter.
While drinking water can help you to stay hydrated from within, try sleeping with a humidifier, this can help to sustain the moisture in your lips, by reducing the amount of moisture that escapes from your lips during the colder months.
I also highly recommend using a lip SPF throughout the cooler months. Our newest launch iS Clinical LiProtect SPF30 is formulated for the delicate skin of the lips and offers a powerful broad-spectrum protection while minimizing the visible effects of photodamage and pollutants.
This antioxidant-rich treatment is more than just a lip balm, combining gentle all-physical transparent sunscreen actives with Vitamin E and Coconut Oil to help condition lips while Elderberry Extract and Linoleic Acid help defend from environmental stressors.
Can the iSClinical Youth Lip Elixir also be used under lipstick/gloss?
Most definitely! Intensely moisturised lips will make for better application of the lipstick and give a more juicy, hydrated appearance to lips.
