New Rooftop Experience at The Reykjavik Edition, Iceland

Since opening in 2021 The Reykjavik EDITION has set a new standard as the Icelandic capital’s first truly luxury hotel experience. This month, The Roof, a new rooftop bar at the hotel has opened featuring stunning 360 degree views of the ocean, Mount Esja and the Snæfellsjökul glacier.

The new venue also provides the chance to view the magical northern lights in the colder months, set against the backdrop of the capital’s iconic mountain range.  During city celebrations such as Cultural Night and New Year’s Eve, the sky outside the hotel comes to life with firework displays, giving The Roof guests a front row seat.

The Roof Dining

Located on the 7th floor of the hotel The Roof offers dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto a large wrap-around seasonal outdoor terrace. It is a unique offering in Iceland’s capital and brings a stylish addition to the city’s bar scene.

Sleek all-black interiors create a discreet background that doesn’t distract from the venue’s phenomenal views.  Putting these views at the center of the venue’s design, the interior has a black ebonized wood floor, black window frames, black painted ceiling, and black solar shades.

Alongside casual bar seating, guests can have a light bite from snug sofas around the perimeter, and cozy black shearling lounge chairs provide a base for flavorful dining. With a carefully curated menu by The Roof Sous Chef Tiago Rosa, the bar supports sustainable farming, quality, and great flavors. This casual menu of bar bites and comfort food is supplemented by an innovative drink’s menu featuring cocktails, local wines and beers.

There is also the option to order the best of everything – the chef’s journey – that consists of six different vegetarian creations from the land of ice and fire.

Launching with a vibrant cultural programme, The Roof will play host to an exciting line-up of DJ’s every Friday and Saturday. The venue will be the home of iconic residencies, with an impressive programme of artists both local and international confirmed.
