Does it feel like everyone you follow on Instagram is somewhere in the sun enjoying the European summer? You are not alone, our insta feed has filled up with sandy beaches, endless sunshine, dining al fresco and enjoying the good life. And while we are smack bang in the middle of an Australian winter, we are ready to dream big about a Euro adventure, even if it is only planning for next year! Here are 5 of the most beautiful places to visit in Europe this summer.
1. The Amalfi Coast
Positano, Capri, Sorrento… these towns conjure up visions of lemon-scented coastlines, striped umbrellas, Aperol Spritz and bodies bronzing on sun loungers. There is something about the Amalfi Coast in Italy that gives us those old world Italian glamour vibes that we just can’t get enough of. Add in the local produce and wine and we area ready to escape there right now!

2. Lake Como
If you are looking for old world glamour, serene beauty and a little la dolce vita look no further than the Lake Como region of Italy. One of our favourite European destinations, Lake Como is located an hour and a half north of Milan and has some of the countries’ most spectacular scenery. From world famous Bellagio to the more laid back villages of Menaggio and Varenna, there really is no bad location in Lake Como to base yourself for the summer. Zip across the lake by boat, eat pizza on the steps of Varenna and sip Limoncello on a sunny lakeside terrace and revel in all things Italy! Read all about the Lake Como region here.

3. The French Riviera
From St Tropez to Cannes, the French Riviera is a world famous summer playground destination that attracts the glitz and glam crowds to the south of France each year. Winding along the coast, the villages along the Côte d’Azur are a French resort lover’s dream. It’s a little flashy, a little ‘see and be seen’ and definitely a spot to visit if you want to bring a little glamour to your summer escape. Don’t miss Grasse, a medieval village that is the world’s perfume capital.

4. The Balearic Islands, Spain
The Balearics aren’t all about Ibiza, in fact the best parts of the islands are found away from the hard partying club crowds. The beauty of this archipelago of islands off the eastern Spanish coast is the clear blue waters and of the Mediterranean. Formentera is one of our favourite pick for the most beautiful water, laid-back beachside bar vibes and an escape from the crowds.

5. The Cinque Terre, Italy
The five villages of the Cinque Terre are not only one of the most aesthetically beautiful regions of Italy but they are wild, dramatic and seem to defy gravity, perched high above the rocks in all of their colorful glory. Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso all have something unique to offer, we love Vernazza for its quaintness and harbour but if you are looking for a beach head to Monterosso. See our full guide to the Cinque Terre here.
