3 Ways To Make Your Bedroom Feel Cosy

As the temperatures start to plummet here in the Southern Hemisphere, we are getting rugged up and looking for more ways to stay warm. The weather is perfect for hunkering down in warm blankets with a good book to read and a hot cup of tea, it’s never been a better time to cosy up our bedrooms. Here are a few of our tips to bring ambience, warmth and that good, snug feeling into your bedroom this coming winter.

1. Layer up

Just as you would with your winter wardrobe, it’s time to dress the bed to the climate. Think layers of texture with chunky cable knit or chenille throws, velvety blankets and fluffy pillows. Faux fur blankets are on trend and bring a winter wonderland feel into the boudoir.

For colour, soft pinks mixed in with neutral greys and whites feels luxurious or try rich amber and deep navy or classic tartan to warm up your bedroom space. Don’t forget to splurge on a good set of flannelette sheets to keep you toasty.

2. Keep your feet warm

Bare feet on cold wooden or tiled floors is an unwelcome start to anyone’s day. Plush, warm area rugs are ideal, and this is where faux fur again works really well to create a practical and aesthetically-pleasing winter look, adding a sense of dimension.

Smaller sheepskin or shag rugs can be used on either sides of the bed or draped over a chair to add comfort and style.

3. A warm glow

The right kind of lighting can seem to make the cold just disappear! Work magical ambience into the room with candles and twinkling fairy lights. Another option is salt lamps, perfect for winter as not only do they radiate warmth and give off a gorgeous amber glow, they can also purify the air, reduce respiratory ailments, and improve mood helping you to evade the dreaded winter blues!

The key is to use different sources of lighting, from taking advantage of natural light to incorporating soft, pretty bedside lamps and mounted ceiling lights to create the right effect.
