5-7 PM
This time is spent preparing a healthy balanced meal for the family. I tried to have things meal-prepped in our plastic-free containers to make this process easier and avoid micro plastics finding their way into our meals. Towards the end of the meal, we like to share our Rose and Thorn for the day. It’s a great way to hear everyone’s highlights and low lights and stay checked in. Then we often play a board game after dinner.
7-9 PM
It’s time for a herbal tea and maybe a bit of home-made frozen yoghurt for dessert. Then a nighttime shower and into the PJ’s for the nourishing pre-bed Seed & Sprout skincare routine. I take my vitamins – magnesium, ashwagandha and curcumin. Then time to pop a hot water bottle into the bed so that when I hop in it’s ultra cozy.
9-11 PM (or beyond)
This is screen-free book time and lights out by 9:30. The earlier the better!
Are you a night owl or a morning lark?
Neither! I love the mornings but I don’t know if the mornings love me. I get up at 6:15 but it takes me a while to really wake up. Luckily my partner brings me a cup of tea in bed and that bit of caffeine helps me start the day! My son gets up at 7:30am so I like to make sure I have at least an hour in the mornings before he wakes up for some me time. This helps me be more present with him instead of rushing around.
What is the one thing that you do that always guarantees a good night’s sleep?
Take my magnesium and read for 15 minutes before lights out. I also use a grounding bedsheet.
Do you use any technology to track your sleep patterns?
No.
Does your wind down routine change between weeknights and the weekend?
No. If anything I go to bed even earlier on the weekends because we are often out at our little off-grid farm and seem to be more in sync with the sun’s patterns, waking with the dawn and settling in for bed not long after dark.
