My Evening Wind Down Routine with Zoe Goodhardt, Partner and Head of Marketing at TAG

As Partner and Head of Growth and Marketing at TAG, Zoe Goodhardt knows how to keep busy! In her role, Zoe works with leading brands to boost visibility and market reach. Some of her current and previous clients include Nala, FUNDAY Natural Sweets, Adidas and FOREO – just to name a few. Having re-entered the agency environment and advanced her career after having kids, Zoe wants more women to see that it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. In her words, “you can have
it all, just not every day”. She puts her success down to early mornings, eliminating decision fatigue, a great support network and persistence. Here’s how a typical evening plays out for Zoe.

5 – 7 PM

I don’t arrive home until around 6pm, so I try to prep as many meals as I can on Sundays! At a minimum, I make soup and cut up fruit and vegetables for salads, roasting and lunches. If my kids have eaten dinner by the time my husband and I get home, then we will usually make salmon and vegetables. When we first got married, we created a rule where whoever got home first was in charge of making dinner. Almost 18 years on and that rule still applies.

7 – 9 PM

During these hours, we are usually chauffeuring our kids around to various activities or trying to persuade them to do their homework. At least one night a week, I will be at an industry event, speaking on a panel or with clients. I
would love to make more time for friends during the week, but with all of our busy schedules, it’s difficult.

9 – 11 PM

I have an automated notification that tells me to wind down at 9pm every night (although I don’t always listen). Truth be told, most nights I’m on my laptop in bed, smashing out a few emails that need my undivided attention. I know most people will tell me that this is a terrible habit, but it sets me up for success and ensures I’m clear on what my tasks and responsibilities are for the following
day. Before I go to sleep, I always leave my workout clothes out for easy access. It makes waking up effortless and means that I can jump straight into exercising the following morning. Running is my outlet and helps me feel energised, while also clearing my mind ahead of a busy workday!

Are you a night owl or a morning lark?

Morning lark!

What is the one thing that you do that always guarantees a good night’s sleep?

I never go to sleep angry. I also make sure I know what my action points are for the following day.

Do you use any technology to track your sleep patterns?

Nope. I think you know whether or not you slept well, without technology!

Does your wind down routine change between weeknights and the weekend?

Absolutely. I always try to go to sleep early on a Friday night so that I can wake up early on Saturday for a long morning run.
