My Life Hacks With Jade Harman, Clinical Nutritionist and Founder of Harman Health

For Jade Harman, life isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing things smarter. As a busy mum and business founder, Jade knows all too well how overwhelming the day-to-day can get. That’s why she leans on practical, low-effort tricks to keep her home, work, and health in balance.

In this edition of My Life Hacks, Jade shares the simple habits that help her stay on top of things, from easy one-pan dinners to a fridge calendar that keeps the whole family in check. Whether you’re looking to save time, eat better, or just stay sane, Jade’s approach is all about cutting the clutter and focusing on what works. Here’s what she had to say.

What is your favourite life hack?

One pan dinner meals. All of my dinner meals are one pan, meaning I put everything on one tray and in the oven, or everything in one pan and on the stove. It allows me to stay consistent with healthy choices within minimal time, prep and effort in the evenings when life gets hectic.

What is one life hack you use to stay organised?

A fridge calendar! Every person in the family has a different colour, and all our activities go on the calendar for the month. I never remember anything if it’s not written down, so this way I get a reminder every time I open the fridge door (which with two kids, is very often!).

What is a simple trick you use to stay productive?

I use Break Timer on my Macbook, an app that after 20 minutes stops your screen and makes you take a break. It helps me break down work into 20-minute intervals, and the extra breaks keep you much more focused.

Can you share and easy travel hacks?

BYO protein bars! Any clients that’s travelling I recommend they take protein bars with them (or buy them when they get there). They’re perfect to keep in your bag and use when you get hangry, so you don’t get to the starving point where you’ll eat anything, as this is when we don’t necessarily make good choices.

What is one small money saving habit that you use?

Buying seasonal produce. Fresh fruit and vegetables that are in season are likely to be cheaper as there’s an abundance of them. If you’re unsure, local farmers’ markets generally have a lot of seasonal produce. It also allows you to change up the types of fruit and vegetables you eat, and this type of fiber diversity is great for your gut health!

What is one piece of advice you live by?

Lower your expectations. I once heard that happiness = reality > expectations. So if your reality doesn’t meet your expectations, you are generally unhappier. The women I meet daily are aiming for so much that it feels too hard to get there and they get disheartened too quickly. Lower expectations can lead to more success, more consistently and potentially more happiness.
