Alex Cadger is founder and director of The Blonde Group, a multifaceted hospitality brand that includes Boxed by Blonde Butler, offering curated, restaurant-quality boxed meals for at-home and corporate entertaining, and his latest ventures, The Butler’s Pantry and The Lakehouse. Alex is the one to call when only seamless, discreet, and impossibly chic will do, setting the standard throughout Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and beyond. Located in Sydney, Australia we catch up with Alex and find out what he loves about the sparkling harbour city he calls home.

1. Tell us about the area that you live in and why you chose to make it your home.

I live at the Opera Residences on Macquarie Street, Sydney at Circular Quay. I love being next to the Botanical Gardens for my daily walk and being so close to the harbour is a real treat. Even though I live in the heart of the city, my home is surprisingly very quiet and peaceful surrounded by trees, you really don’t feel like you’re in the CBD when you’re in my apartment.

2. Where are your favourite places to eat and shop?

I tend to gravitate towards Potts Point, Paddington & Surry Hills for shopping & eating out. The Intersection at Paddington has great clothing stores & boutiques to pick from and Potts Point has some outstanding restaurants – Cho Cho San and The Apollo would be on the top of my list for a great meal.

3. How would you spend a perfect day in your city?

I start every morning bright and early with a coffee followed by a walk down to the Opera House, around Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, through Woolloomooloo and via Potts Point on my way home. I’d meet some friends for brunch or lunch and have sundowners somewhere by the water. If the weather is great, a drive to North Bondi for some sashimi and a cocktail at Raw Bar is one of my favourite things to do.

4. What is your favourite thing about your city?

It would have to be the array of exceptional restaurants and bars – I really love dining out and seeing what is hot and new in my industry. I think we are really spoilt for choice in Sydney.

5. Any other local insider secrets we should know about?

Running with my dining and drinking theme, I think everyone should do themselves a favour and try out Joji Bar in the Sydney CBD after dinner for a cocktail & a snack. It is above the Cartier store in Sydney and has a very cool vibe.
