We review the new Phyto-Rouge Shine lip range by Sisley Paris.
We are big lipstick fans here at ele and with face masks off and our lips back on show we are ready to embrace bold lip colour with a passion.
While matte lips will never fully go away out flirtation with the matte look has subsided and we are fully on board with a little shine and even an ‘early 2000s vibe’ gloss look.
But with temperamental weather that is swinging between humid, dry and back to humid we are looking for a lip option that will do something to help condition our lips while giving us the lip colour we deserve. Enter Sisley’s Phyto-Rouge Shine range.
What Sisley Says
Phyto-Rouge Shine is a new-generation lipcare shine lipstick: the perfect combination of the shine of a gloss, the comfort of a balm and the melt-in color of a lipstick.
Due to the Hydrobooster complex, composed of Hyaluronic Acid and Konjac Glucomannan microspheres, lips immediately look plumped and smoothed. With repeated application, lips feel increasingly nourished, soft and protected from external aggressions. The rich, melt-in and addictive texture provides absolute comfort and an ultra-shiny effect. Its sheer formula dresses lips with an intense shine and natural radiance. The wash of color intensifies with additional coats for buildable coverage that can be adapted as desired.
What We Say
Shine and gloss lovers this will be your new go-to lip colour. The texture is comforting and feels extra hydrating, the colour stays on well, though remember it is a sheer lipstick so it won’t give as deep a colour as a traditional lipstick. You can build up coverage to achieve the desired result.
We would describe these lip colours as mix between a lipstick and a balm, mixed with a little gloss. The packaging is very luxe and the containers are refillable (at about 2/3 of the cost) which is a good step forward for Sisley and its focus on sustainability and environment.
We love the option of 12 different shades from beige nude through the colour spectrum to a deeper plum (our favourites are Sheer Raspberry and Sheer Chilli). The Phyto-Rouge range is a great everyday lip option, we anticipate having one or two in our bag, and reaching for them during the day or when we are on the go and don’t want to worry about doing a full lip look.
The staying power was good, with little transference and a subtle colour still left after using only one coat and eating and drinking over the course of a morning.
They are pricey, in line with what we expect from Sisley ($60 USD/$70 AUD), but we are happy to pay a little more for a lip colour that performs and also helps our lips to stay plump and hydrated through the day. Refills are USD $48.
