This contains all of the spoilers for the Season 3 final of The White Lotus. Look away now if you haven’t watched it yet!
The body count! The White Lotus Season 3 finale didn’t disappoint, winding up loose ends but leaving us lamenting the loss of one of our favourite characters! Let’s dive in!
Piper Ratliff, still unsettled after a failed attempt at the Buddhist retreat, realises she isn’t cut out for a life of austerity. Her brother Lachlan however realised may just be ready to take a year out to work out what he wants and who he is.
Gaitok and Valentin have a verbal altercation as Valentine admits to robbing the hotel, and Jaclyn is left brooding about her strained relationship with Laurie trying to work out which side Kate would sit on in a falling out.
Saxon’s guilt about past actions rises to the surface, and as he speaks with Chelsea (whom he seems to have fallen for), Rick returns from his trip and declares that didn’t do anything bad in Bangkok.
Meanwhile, Belinda’s son, Zion, negotiates with Gary/Greg, demanding a hefty sum of five million dollars to keep their silence, with Zion attempting to mansplain negotiations to Belinda.
Rick explains to Chelsea he plans to stay with her forever, oh no this is foreboding..
A chilling moment occurs when Timothy prepares piña coladas for the family, secretly lacing them with poisoned fruit. He offers them to the family, but ultimately, he can’t go through with the plan and dumps the drinks down the sink. Victoria delivers a withering one liner ‘Have you ever heard of wine’ – indeed! Still, the night is far from peaceful. The tension continues as characters anticipate a deadly outcome.
Rick and Chelsea share a tender moment, with Rick pledging to be with Chelsea forever, but their happiness feels fleeting. Meanwhile Belinda and Zion, wait nervously for their payout, hinting at potential double-crosses in the future.
After unwittingly drinking a poisoned smoothie the following morning, Lachlan looks sure to be on death’s edge but somehow pulls through, when Timothy finds him by the pool. Go Lachey! More brotherly love opportunities ahead for you.
Rick exacts his revenge on Jim, who was his actual biological father, sending him to his end in front in Sritala, the girls and Fabian. He is chased by security and takes out two guards. Chelsea (noooo!) is also mortally wounded and Gaitok shoots Rick.
Chelsea perishes in Ricks’ arms, a double tragedy we weren’t ready for, but has been foreshadowed since the start of the season. Cue the tears for our fave couple.
The mean girls have a moment of reackoning but then paper over the tension, and hug and drink it out, as only these three seem to be capable of doing. We just know that deep down the tensions and jealousy haven’t, and will never, be resolved.
It looks like Greg/Gary comes out on top yet again, getting his parent fantasy fulfilled with Chloe and getting away with silencing Belinda. She gets a ton of money and her dream job but has to walk a easy from potential love.
Gaitok gets promoted to be Sritala’s bodyguard and wins Mook’s affections. Go Gaitok! although he did have to take a life to get ahead.
The Ratliffs leave the resort and it looks like Timothy may have accepted his white collar misdemeanours fate and the family will be in for a shock when they get home. But his new found ‘family is the most important thing’ may just get them through. Though we can’t imagine Victoria being happy to live the basic life.
Frank seems to have found Buddhism (who knows for how long), and Valentin and his friend are seen taking shots with a new group of women.
A satisfactory end to a week in Thai paradise!
What did you think of the finale? Did it live up to previous seasons?
