Cosmedix is one of our all-time favourite skincare brands, packed full of natural botanicals and super active and clean ingredients it is a brand that really delivers on its promises. And as the brains behind one of the best eye serums on the market, Opti Crystal, we knew we had to try the Lumi Crystal Liquid Crystal Lip Hydrator (try saying that after a few glasses of wine!).
While we occasionally splash out on Chanel or Tom Ford lipsticks that cost north of $50, the thought of spending almost twice that on a lip gloss wasn’t easy to swallow, however after trawling through overwhelmingly positive online reviews we knew we had to give it a try.
The first thing we noticed when we opened the box was the sheer gorgeous-ness of the product – a futuristic clear tube of illuminated liquid that changes colours in every light. But pretty lights and sparkle aren’t enough to get us to shell out almost a hundred dollars so the true test was going to be how the product worked.
The gloss is packed full of antioxidants and lip plumping properties and promises to reduce fine lines and deliver maximum hydration. And boy does it do all of those things. Immediately after we put it on we could feel the moisturising and plumping effects of the gloss.
The texture is close to perfect, just the right mix of super glossiness and shine without sticky tackiness. It is gorgeous on its own, providing superior hydration and a little bit of glam. We also love it as a topper to lipstick, it is beautiful over any lip colour, adding stunning iridescent shine and glossiness.
While we still think the price is a little steep in Australia (note it is about $35 to buy in the US where Cosmedix originates), owning this gloss means you won’t need to buy any others – it will replace your lip balm, lip plumper, gloss topper and your hydrating lip cream and make you feel a little bit special every time you use it.
