Escape: Palm Cove, Far North Queensland

27km north of Cairns, on the stunning coastline of the Coral Sea is the beautiful village of Palm Cove. This Far North Quernsland seaside town boasts a palm tree lined boulevard, powder white sand, crystal clear waters and balmy temperatures making it the most idyllic retreat. With close proximity to the lush rainforest and the world renowned Great Barrier Reef, it is the perfect base for exploring the area. There are numerous accommodation options to choose from including self-catering apartments, private houses and luxury resorts. The cute village has plenty of restaurants and cafes and the larger resort town of Port Douglas is only 40 minutes further north. As always our ELE top top is to try and avoid the school holidays when Aussies from the southern states descend on the town to escape the winter. Summer (Dec-Feb) in Far North Queensland is the rainy season so best to plan a trip between April and November where you can expect perfect balmy days with little rain. It is a must to take advantage of the beautiful tropical fruit available in the area, our homemade Bircher muesli (pictured below) is perfect topped with fresh mango and bananas and the green smoothie is packed with local avocados.
