Friday Night Drinks – Celebrating Halloween & The Mexican Day Of The Dead

Welcome to the first of our Friday Night Drinks series! Each week we will be sharing our fave inspiration for the perfect end-of-week drinks.

This week it’s all about Halloween and the Mexican Day of the Dead festival which coincide over the next few days. A Spicy Margherita is our tipple of choice – a touch of heat and a good shot of Sierra Tequila to kickstart the weekend.

Other years may have been filled with parties, festivals, parades and plenty of trick or treating, this year it’s all about staying at home and celebrating more intimately with friends – but that doesn’t mean we can’t dress up! A fun dress in a bright pop of colour, cute Halloween accessories and a festivally spooky playlist and you have the ingredients for a great evening. Enjoy!

What To Drink

Sierra Tequila | Spicy Cucumber Margarita

Ingredients

4 ounces tequila
2 ounces fresh lime juice
1 ounce of Cointreau
1 cucumber, sliced into thick coins
1 small jalapeno, thinly sliced
optional garnishes: extra thinly-sliced cucumber rounds, extra jalapeno slices, and/or lime wedges

Method

1. Add all the ingredients (minus the jalapeno) into a blender. Pulse for 1 minute. Strain out the liquid into a cocktail shaker.

2. Add the jalapeno slices, and muddle until the margarita has your desired level of heat. Add a handful of ice, and shake the mixture vigorously for a few seconds, immediately strain it into serving glasses that have been rimmed with salt, filled with ice, and topped with optional garnishes.
