Packing for a weekend getaway in autumn can be tricky as the weather tends to be unpredictable. But don’t worry, this article will help you pack the right items for your next trip.

What to consider before going on your trip

Ask yourself the following questions before packing for your trip. Your answers will help you decide the right clothing items to bring.

Is it also fall season at my destination?

It is not fall season in every place in the world. The southern hemisphere does not have the same seasons as the northern hemisphere.  For example, it is springtime from September to November in Australia. So, make sure you check where you are going and what the weather predictions are before you begin packing.

What activities do I plan on doing?

The perfect outfits will also depend on the activities you have planned. For example, if you want to go on a hike in a national park, you will need to pack accordingly. It will be colder if you go on a hike in the mountains so make sure to bring some warmer autumn/winter clothes and sportswear items.  If you have a lot of early morning activities or late-night activities planned, make sure you pack some warm clothes as well. Temperatures are usually colder during those times.

What color scheme do I want to go for?

If you want to look stylish during your getaway, think about your outfits’ color scheme. This will help you pack the right items and prepare your outfits.

Most popular colors for fall outfits include:

        • deep chocolate brown
        • hazelnut tones
        • deep amber
        • maroon tones
        • deep green

What to pack for an autumn trip

Here are some of the clothes we recommend packing for your trip.

        • Jeans

Jeans are versatile and easy to style. You can technically wear them during any season. If the weather gets a little bit too cold, you can wear a pair of tights underneath your jeans for extra warmth. If the weather is too hot, opt for short, wide-leg or baggy jeans. Some of the most common and popular types of jeans include ripped skinny jeans, high-rise straight jeans, and wide-leg jeans.  All of these are quite affordable and easy to find. They are also very comfortable and durable.

        • Long-sleeve organic cotton t-shirts

For the perfect autumn weekend, we recommend packing long-sleeve cotton t-shirts. Long-sleeve t-shirts are easy to wear and accessorize. Because cotton is a very breathable fabric, cotton t-shirts will keep you warm without being too hot. Pure cotton t-shirts are soft and comfortable to wear. They are also better for your skin than polyester and synthetic t-shirts. We recommend organic cotton clothes because they are kinder to your skin. Unlike non-organic items, certified organic clothes are produced without harsh and toxic chemicals.

        • A cardigan or sweater

Pack a cardigan or a sweater in your suitcase. When temperatures get colder, you will need those additional layers. Bring a cardigan or sweater that is easy to wear and accessorize. Ideally, it will go with your jeans and your long-sleeve t-shirts for a nice overall outfit.

        • A trench coat

A trench coat, or another coat that is similar in fabric and cut, is a great item to pack for a getaway. Trench coats are versatile. They are also quite light to carry yet warm to wear. They will keep you comfortably warm and will help you look very stylish. After all, trench coats are very elegant clothing items. You can easily pair your trench coat with your jeans and a long-sleeve t-shirt underneath.
