Looking for a city escape that feels like you have flown somewhere exotic? Look no further than the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa in Queensland.
In the heart of Surfers Paradise near the world famous beach, this 28 story resort is a little slice of home grown Australian paradise. The resort has enjoyed a recent refurbishment and is a luxurious option for anyone visiting the Gold Coast.
The jewel in the resort’s crown is the water lagoon and pool area which features waterfalls, tropical fish, a whirlpool, spas and a waterslide making it a haven for families or those looking to relax poolside. With its sand beach and saltwater lagoon it feels more like a tropical oasis than your standard hotel pool.
The Rooms
The rooms are elegant and crisp with views either across the ocean or out to the hinterland. Large bathtubs overlooking the sea and Surfers Paradise are a highlight alongside comfy king sized beds and balconies. The palette is cream, neutrals and hint of blues – calming and comfortable.
Eat
Dine at Misono, the on-site Japanese teppanyaki and sushi bar and watch the chefs create a little bit of fire and magic in front of you (great for families with older kids), or head to Critique for a spectacular seafood buffet that includes Moreton Bay bugs, prawns and oysters.
Activities
If you are travelling with children there is a basketball court, tennis area and activities games room plus sushi and pizza making lessons and fish feeding to keep them entertained. There are plenty of free water activities to enjoy, note that some do have a cost, including the hire of the cabanas by the pool. There are plenty of loungers if you were prefer not to pay the extra charge for a cabana.
Spa
Want to spoil yourself and have a little quiet time? Book in a Ruby Spa and enjoy a luxurious massage or facial treatment.
Service
We found the service attentive and personal for a large hotel, the welcome drink at check in was a nice touch and the service in the restaurants and bars was top notch, in a distinctly Australian style.
If you do want to leave the hotel, Surfers Paradise and all that the Gold Coast has to offer is right on your doorstep, though trust us you can easily spend a few days relaxing in the resort with no reason to leave at all.
