5-7PM
I have a 4 year old, so 5-7pm is dinner time and bath time. Sometimes we do a bit of playing or an episode of Bluey.
7-9PM
My 4 year old goes to bed around 7:30-8 so I’m usually getting him ready for bed. Sometimes I fall asleep with him, other times I’ll get up and make a tea or cacao and tbh, scroll my phone a bit.
9-11PM (and beyond)
I try to be in bed by 9:30 at the latest. I get ready for bed, and then I usually lay my clothes out for my morning walk and swim the night before, and read a bit of whatever book is on rotation, then I’m out.
Are you a night owl or a morning lark?
Morning lark! I get up at 5am. I love the mornings, they are magic.
What is the one thing that you do that always guarantees a good night’s sleep?
I always go to bed by 9/9.30pm, and keep my phone out of reach.
Do you use any technology to track your sleep patterns?
No, I honestly rawdog sleep! I just close my eyes and drift off until I wake up pretty naturally the next morning. So I’ve never felt the need to optimize anything there.
Does your wind down routine change between weeknights and the weekend?
Sometimes my husband and I will stay up a bit later on a Friday, drink some wine and catch up on the week. We want to start playing chess as a nightly activity, so I will report back on how that goes.
