Tell us about the area that you live in and why you chose to make it your home.
I live in Palm Beach, on the southern end of the Gold Coast. I grew up in Tasmania where everything feels so sparse, so I feel lucky to have the beautiful headlands, beaches, creeks and hinterland right on my doorstep. It also means I’m just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Tweed Coast in Northern NSW, where I work at Farm & Co Restaurant. While I live and work in two different states, the locations are just over the border from one another, so it’s just a short drive between each. I feel blessed to have a foot in each region that boasts its own, unique culinary charms.

Where are your favourite places to eat and shop?
I love to shop at Tugun Market Co., to buy local produce and stock up on fresh pasta, sauces, fruits and vegetables. For anything retail Robina Town Centre or James Street in Burleigh Heads. My favourite places to eat are Paloma Wine Bar and Bar Evelyn. Both offer shared-style plates where you can sit for hours snacking away, plus some very fun wines! For date night it is Anekawa, a cute 30-seater in Mudgeeraba that serves authentic Japanese food from the Saga region. Their clay-pot rice is a must! I always opt for the eight-course set menu and finish with warm sake.
How would you spend a perfect day in your town/city?
I’m an early riser so a sunrise walk around Burleigh Headland or a yoga class followed by a dip in Tallebudgera Creek, to carve out some time for the body and mind at the start of the day. Then a slow morning at Tarte Bakery sipping coffee and eating a cheeky dark chocolate and burnt butter cookie while soaking up the sun. In the afternoon I’d head to Paloma Wine Bar with friends for small plates and then swing by Flor Wine and Grocer to choose a bottle of wine to enjoy on my deck. Or, a 15-minute drive to Farm & Co Restaurant to watch the sun go down over the paddocks and orchards, with a beautiful glass of wine and something delicious from the menu. While I create the menus, there is nothing better than when someone is cooking wholesome, good-quality food for you! There’s also nothing better for the soul than soaking up the idyllic ambience of this picturesque location, on a day off.
What is your favourite thing about your town/city?
I love the energy! Everyone is always outdoors, moving and on the go.
