Neglected Parts of the Body That Need Your Attention

When it comes to boosting your health, it’s automatic for you to think about things like your weight, your energy levels, and, of course, your fitness. But your health is a lot more than those few aspects despite how important they are for a healthy lifestyle.

When you’re aiming to improve your life, you would be remiss to overlook some other areas that all play a part in your health. Let’s take a look at some other areas of your body to focus on to help you boost your overall health.

Brain Health

Your brain, the control center of your body, needs to be in top shape to help you navigate day-to-day life. As you age, there is a natural decline in cognitive abilities, but this doesn’t mean you can’t take steps to boost your brain health. Simple things like prioritizing a diet rich in whole foods, especially B vitamins and omega 3, can be a great place to start. Maintaining a healthy weight, getting enough sleep, and engaging your brain on a regular basis through socializing, learning something new, being curious, and playing games that challenge you, like sudoku, can all contribute to a healthier brain.

Mobility

How your body moves and your mobility can impact your health and well-being. Tight muscles and joints that don’t move as they should can limit your range of motion and make things harder than they need to. Even if you can exercise a lot, learning movements that can help keep you flexible and remove aches and pains associated with tight muscles and stiff joints can instantly make you feel better.

It’s not about becoming flexible enough to rival a gymnast unless that is what you want to do; it’s about keeping your body moving and functional and not in pain because you’re limited in how your body likes to move. Identify the stiffer parts of your body, be it ankles, hips, or even shoulders, and find mobility exercises that help you build up flexibility and range of motion for a healthier body.

Feet

Your feet, often overlooked, endure a lot of pressure each day. They do a lot for you, and if you want to boost your health, your feet need to be a body part you focus on, too. A quick soak in the tub or a foot spa on a regular basis can do the world of good; monitoring, removing dead skin build-up, healing cracks in heels, and cutting toenails properly are all part of good foot care.

In addition, properly caring for your feet can alert you to changes that can indicate other health conditions, such as diabetes.

Heart Health

Your heart health, or cardiovascular health, is something no one should ignore. Your heart performs a pretty important job, and it’s instrumental in keeping you alive. If there are any issues with your heart, this can lead to massive health concerns and could potentially be life-limiting. This is why it’s crucial to pay attention to your heart health and take steps to improve it.

A heart-healthy diet: the Mediterranean diet is often considered the best diet for boosting heart health. Regular sleep, maintaining a healthy weight, lowering cholesterol, managing stress, and not smoking or drinking too much alcohol can all help improve heart health so you are fit and healthy to live a long and prosperous life.

Stomach

Your stomach is responsible for storing all the food you eat, and once it hits the stomach, it mixes it and breaks it down, ready for it to enter the digestive tract. Your stomach is home to a host of good and bad bacteria, and it produces enzymes and acids essential for breaking down what you eat. If anything is out of balance in your stomach, then you’re not going to feel your best. Poor gut health includes fatigue, heartburn, reflux, bloating, gas, and many more.

The best way to care for your stomach is to reduce the amount of processed foods you consume, eat in moderation, and include probiotic and gut-beneficial foods such as kefir and sauerkraut. Your diet also needs to be rich in fiber, and habits like smoking and binge drinking are eliminated.
