Sprucing Up Your Garden in Time For Summer

We’re getting deeper into spring now in the northern hemisphere and some of us are starting to feel the heat. At the same time, a lot of us have been seeing plenty of rain, as well, so the season to get out and enjoy the garden in all its beauty isn’t quite there yet, but that’s not to say it won’t be. Here, we’re going to look at how you can make sure that your garden is ready to welcome in summer by addressing some of the tasks you should be taking care of now.

Give your lawn some love

The first thing that you’re likely to notice is that your lawn is growing again and it likely requires some love. For one, if you haven’t started mowing yet, now is the time. Even if it’s still raining out there, using a strimmer to keep it from getting too long will make it much easier to tidy when you are able to break out the mower. If you’re noticing that it’s looking patchy or not entirely healthy, then you might want to plant some new grass seed. Make sure that your soil is able to retain moisture as it needs to, and that it has the nutritional strength to support a lawn and it will be much easier to take care of in the months ahead.

Go over those surfaces

Your greenery isn’t the only thing that makes your garden. The pavers, pathways, patio stones, and any wooden decking you might have play a role, too. During autumn and winter, these can lose a lot of their luster due to the weather, as well as things like algae and plant debris that get stirred up. It can discolor them or even create a slippery film that can make them dangerous to step on, and this is where pressure cleaning services can come in handy. You want to make sure that you’re not using overly abrasive chemicals which can damage the materials, sometimes all you need is water at the right pressure to bring the surface back, nice and pristine.

Create a comfortable space

If you want to really make sure that you’re getting the absolute best use out of your garden, then it’s time to consider how you spend time in it. If you want to be able to sit, relax, and enjoy a meal or drink under the sun, then you have to create the right comfortable garden space for it. Creating an outdoor living space takes some planning, but it’s an investment that will pay off year after year, every time the weather permits you to make use of it. If you already have one, then take the time to update and improve it, whether you might need to replace some furniture, or cushions, add a little lighting, a little shelter, or even a little heating to make it much more versatile.
