Every year on Valentines we are not only pressed to come up with a fun date idea but the question that inevitably follows is what to wear to said date!? We should always look for clothes that fit our body shape first and foremost (download your free style guide here for any questions on this) although getting the styling right for the date can put us in such a spin we can potentially can the whole thing, leaving us in a Valentines disaster. I have curated looks for five popular date options on this upcoming day! Enjoy lovers!

The Dinner Date

The classic dinner date for Valentine’s day! It’s the go-to for candlelight romance, so for me it’s all about a great dress and a red dress is even better. A study has shown that men (if your date happens to be one) are highly attracted to the colour red. This is a very powerful colour to wear and if you have a flattering and well fitting style, well darling, you can’t go wrong. This style from Sandro will flatter most body shapes, fitting beautifully in the right places and fun and flirty in the rest. Style it up with some killer heels (this is a sit-down date after all) and pair back with some classic hardware. I absolutely adore this bag from YSL, perfect for a romantic night, and of course you can’t do all of this without a classic red lip.

The Culture Date

This is a tricky date to get the styling right for! You want something fun, yet also sophisticated and sexy. Outfits that are “too fashiony” can lead to over styling and losing that sense of chicness as there can be too much going on. I love this hot pink top by S/W/F Boutique because it has interest although it is still super feminine, team it with these great high waisted cropped pants from Morrison, showing off a bit of ankle, and reintroduce the fashion with this amazing heel from Rochas which brings it all together! Add a classic black clutch, a simple stud for your ears and a great red lip for a touch more glam and your date will be mesmerised in the very best way!

The Escape Room

Experience dates are all the rage these days and an Escape room is a great one as its all about low risk survival! How fun! For this type of date, you will want to make sure you are comfortable but still feel pretty, it is Valentine’s day after all! This is where the Midi skirt comes to the rescue. I love this one with the Ombre effect, style it up with a cute pair of white sneakers from Superga, a great add to any wardrobe by the way! Keep the rest of the look simple with this cute white V-neck top to give a great shape on top and pop a necklace to draw attention to the area. Layer up with a great denim jacket like this one from Nique and put all your belongings in this gorgeous silver bag from Guess. On a side note, silver is the hottest colour in bags at the moment, a definite investment piece!

The Movie Date

The second most popular to the dinner date is the movie date and if there is anything I know about movie theatres, they can be cold. A perfect date to snuggle up to the person you fancy and share a box of popcorn, although, if its new you will want to consider layers to your look and a great blazer and cami combo is a cool and sexy way to achieve this. I love this soft cami from Lonely which adds a feminine touch. The classic houndstooth blazer is structured to show off your waist and teamed with a classic blue denim pair of jeans, this look is all style. Add a classic YSL bag, a pair of pearl earrings and finish with a deep red lipstick to add very sultry vibe. Tres chic.

The Day Hike

The idea of getting in active wear for a date can be nerve racking, its tight and can show everything! Although we can also use this to our advantage! When you colour block your look you are adding a stylish element to your outfit and going for a colour (red in the Valentine’s day spirit) you are creating a great silhouette rather than lines with different colours which can complement your figure in the best way. I love this set as it shows flashes of skin in just the right places and teaming it with a pair of sneakers that match is super cute! Style it up with a great pair of classic black sunglasses like these from Dior and this long line white raincoat. To finish add in a little belt bag to show off your waistline. Together this is a gorgeous outfit you can hike to the top of the hill in and still look a million bucks.
