Ingredients (serves 4)
4 brioche buns with sesame seeds
2 pork shoulder/loin steaks ( boneless) cut in half
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
Plain flour for dusting
2 cups of panko bread crumbs
Salt and pepper
Tonkatsu sauce
1/4 cup tomato ketchup
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
2 1/2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
Method
To make the Tonkatsu sauce, mix all ingredients together until smooth. Set aside.Whisk egg and milk together and dust pork pieces with plain flour, dip in egg wash and into panko crumbs, press crumbs on to meat well and refrigerate until ready to cook this will let the crumbs set too.
Heat a frypan with some vegetable oil, gently cook the pork steaks until golden brown on both sides and cooked through and rest on paper towel for a few seconds.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Place pork steak on each brioche bun base and top with slaw and a good amount of the tonkatsu sauce before popping on the lid of the bun. Enjoy!
