I get up at about 6.30 and head out the door to walk the dog early. I am an early bird, and both my partner and toddler are night owls, so I get a big chunk of the morning to myself (which I am very grateful for!)
We are fortunate to live on the coast, so my morning walk is really lovely and peaceful. I don’t listen to music or a podcast, I just walk. I like the time to think away from everything and particularly screens! It gives me time to process current goings on, or things I need to achieve that day.
Halfway along the walk is a coffee shop so I pick up a coffee and carry on walking.
Once I am back, I make myself a yoghurt, seed, nut and fruit concoction and sit down with my computer to run through emails, review our social media accounts, get up to date with my task list and check in with my team. I lead the creative side of our business and as we’re a monthly subscription, which changes products each month, there is a considerable amount of day-to-day design to keep up with. It’s never a dull day in our team!
The boys wake up at about 8am and if it’s a daycare day it takes us about an hour to get dressed, have breakfast and out the door.
I arrive at work and catch up with team members to check that their workloads are all manageable, if they are I press on with my list/head into meetings, if not I pick up some tasks of theirs.
Before I know it the morning is over and it’s time for lunch!
First thing, I do my best to get to Pilates and get out for a walk, but some mornings work does take priority! On the mornings that this goes to plan, I go to Pilates at 6am.
I get home and have a cold shower (sorry, yes, I am one of those founders!).
Next up, for breakfast, I’ll usually make avo on toast or a berry yogurt bowl.
After brekkie, I’ll take my dog around the block before jumping in the car! On route to the office, I pick up an iced long black and usually call my mum, sister or friend from the UK on the journey in, sometimes I do listen to a podcast or sing-a-long to Taylor Swift or Beyonce.
Once I get to the office, I check my emails and calendar for the day, I’m loving INTU WELLNESS at the moment so I have a GUT & REJUVENATION POWDER while I get my ducks in a row.
I then meet with my team at 10am each morning to run through the day and what our priorities are, we used to catch up at 9am but we feel as a team that 10 AM is better as it gives us that hour in the morning to get our heads around what we need to do each day and gives us time to troubleshoot anything before our team stand up.
Next, I prepare a protein-rich breakfast, often featuring locally sourced grass-fed steak or pasture-raised eggs. I enjoy this meal outdoors in our courtyard, basking in the morning sunshine to support my circadian rhythm. The act of eating in this serene setting has evolved into a deliberate practice of mindful eating, devoid of distractions, setting a therapeutic tone for the day ahead.
Post-breakfast, I outline my day by drafting a detailed ‘to-do’ list within my phone’s notes, allocating approximate times for each task. As an advocate of list-making, even the minutest chores find their place, aiding in the seamless management of my business endeavours (this certainly helps when wearing many hats as a co-founder).
Depending on the day’s agenda, I might indulge in a brisk ocean dip, there’s nothing better than the stillness of the water first thing in the morning, or I’ll head to training. I’m currently training to compete in my fourth powerlifting competition.
After this, I’ll settle into my favourite café for a morning of work, accompanied by a robust long black. I find cafés to be my most conducive environment for productivity, where the ambience fosters a relaxed, unstructured atmosphere, perfect for the unfettered flow of creative ideation.
6am wake up: Try my best not to scroll through my phone as soon I wake up but I do have a quick scan of my calendar to see what’s on for the day.
A workout to get the blood pumping and endorphins flowing: Loving Barre at the moment but alternate between boxing, Pilates and running.
Post-workout detox: Spicy ginger shot or a glass of lemon water for a little detox. I usually listen to a female founder or beauty podcast while sipping on this.
Steamy shower: I find it therapeutic with one important rule… face stays cool, the rest gets toasty!! Love L’occitane Almond Shower Oil.
Coffee and brekky: Make myself an almond latte and some breakfast (usually Greek yoghurt with frozen berries).
Skincare regime: Gentle cleanse with the Cosrx Low pH Good Morning cleanser, Drunk Elephant C-Firma Vit C serum (love a glow), and Airyday Mineral Mousse SPF for the ultimate UV ray shield.
Light makeup if I’m going to in-person meetings which I much prefer over online meetings: rose inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum, BALM Beauty The Brow eyebrow gel, BALM Beauty The Tint cream blush, BALM Beauty The Bronze cream bronzer, BALM Beauty The Lip Oil (I bring this around with me all day).
Brain dump time: 10 minutes of journaling to dump any ideas that pop into my head, things I need to do, or anxieties lurking in the back of my mind.
To-do list: Write myself a to-do list for the day and begin meetings!!
As soon as I wake up I do a tongue scrap, it doesn’t sound chic I know, but kicking my morning off with a healthy habit not only gives me a sense of accomplishment, but that positive momentum also carries me through the rest of the day. I’m more likely to eat a healthy breakfast, take my supplements, drink more water…you get my drift. I’ll follow this up with a large glass of filtered water and a couple of supplements before any coffee.
On weekdays I’ll generally wake up around 5:30am with the aim of getting to a 6am class, this is usually Pilates, Strength or Cardio. On slower mornings, I’ll catch up with a friend and take the dog out for a good walk, this naturally lands in a coffee pit-stop along the way.
Once I’m home, I’ll have a quick shower and make some breakfast. This is usually two eggs, avo and sauerkraut, or coconut yoghurt, berries and granola if I’m in a rush.
Next up, I open the laptop, check through emails and work out my priorities for the day. I. LOVE. A. LIST. I tend to keep my plans and finances all tracked in a ‘Life Excel Sheet’ which I’ll check in on, just to make sure I haven’t forgotten any upcoming plans or bills etc. Many ask me why I don’t just use a calendar, but when you know, you know right? It’s just a method that works for me and I can easily access it when something.
