We have been longtime fans of the original Mermade Wave Styler for creating super simple waves with little effort. The team at Mermade has given the styler an update, based on feedback from their customers, to create the new Mermade PRO Waver.
The PRO Waver is equipped with new heat technology that reduces unnecessary damage and styling time, meaning you can create your hair style up to 50% faster than the previous model. To assist with the overall user experience, Mermade Hair PRO Waver features a new heat-proof soft touch handle, an exclusive flipped design, a long hold power button to prevent accidental turn off, and an extended 2.5m swivel cord for professional use.
We love the fact that the styler is simple and fairly quick to use, we recommend prepping hair with heat protectant and sectioning your hair first, working from the underneath to the top. We also recommend clamping down on each section of hair for at least 5-10 seconds to achieve the perfect wave. The waves are very much that – waves not curls – so if you are looking for a more rounded curl this might not be the product for you.
The styler is well priced at $89 and comes in two colours, classic black and pink/grey. The size of the styler has always been the biggest challenge for us, it is large in order to create the big waves, so it works much better on mid to long length hair, if you have short hair you might be better off with a more traditional curling wand.
Our final thoughts?
The PRO Waver is a great update on the original, perfect to replace when you are ready to upgrade or to invest in, if it’s your first foray in to the wave tool world.
