Does anyone else remember the pure pleasure of opening a Peppermint Crisp chocolate bar as a child? The jewel-like interior always reminded us of the prettiest crystals and felt like we were being treated to something extra special.
This Dark Chocolate Peppermint Bark is a nostalgic nod to that childhood memory. It really is the most simple thing to make and great to serve after dinner with a good strong coffee or just to treat yourself at any time of the day.

Ingredients
200 gram block of good quality dark chocolate
2 Peppermint Crisp bars*
Method
- Break the dark chocolate in to small pieces and melt in a metal bowl over a saucepan of simmering water.
- Once the chocolate is fully melted, carefully spoon it on to a sheet of baking paper on a flat tray.
- Using a spatula or spoon, spread out the chocolate until the bark is about half a centimetre thick. While the chocolate is still soft top with two chopped Peppermint Crisp bars.
- Place in the fridge for 1-2 hours until the chocolate is fully set. Once it is set, chop bark in to rough pieces. Serve and enjoy!
*Peppermint Crisp bars are a chocolate bar available in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. They can be purchased online however if you can’t get a hold of one you can use another peppermint bar or even chopped dark chocolate After Dinner Mints to substitute in this recipe.
