My Day On A Plate With Personal Trainer Monique Craft

Monique Craft is one of Australia’s most in-demand and inspiring personal trainers. She is a regular coach for   Active Escapes, has landed several major campaigns for brands worldwide, is an expert for Caruso’s Natural Health and is an in-demand model.  As we head into the warmer months, we asked her to share her day on a plate as inspiration. Here’s what Monique had to say.

“The times I eat will depend on my clients and shoot schedules, and the foods I eat vary too, we all know life can be a little unpredictable at times.  Some of my clients love to get started at 5 am while others will allow me a bit more of a sleep-in.  In general, this is what my day on a plate would look like.”

5:45 AM

Upon waking, I always have a big glass of water and a greens powder, followed by a banana and coffee to kickstart my day before my first client or class. I also have Fish Oil and Get Up a Go by Caruso’s Natural Health in the morning too as it helps to promote and maintain energy levels, which is a must in my job.

8:00 AM

I love overnight oats! My recipe consists of almond milk, 3/4 cup oats (roughly 80 grams), Vanilla vegan protein, a sprinkle of cinnamon and 100 grams of blueberries. This is my favourite breakfast on the go; it is nutritious, delicious and keeps me energised.

English breakfast tea with milk, Matcha Latte on Almond, or Almond Cappuccino.

Lunch time – I love a good chicken or tuna super food bowl that consists of lots of colour! Fresh veg such as baby spinach, shredded carrot, capsicum, cucumber, beetroot, avocado tomato with rice or baked sweet potato are my go-tos. I also love making air-fried chickpea pops to mix through and add some crunch!
Snacks: A Pear or Apple, a protein bar or popcorn.

Dinner! My favourite dinner is steak and veg! I love a good steak on the BBQ!
Dessert: Lindt dark chocolate with a licorice tea or Protein mouse (mix a scoop of chocolate protein powder in vanilla Greek yoghurt). I also like to take the Caruso’s Super Magnesium Powder before bed.

I also have lots of water throughout the day (2L) as it is essential not only for good health, but for glowing skin. I always listen to my body and nourish it accordingly with additional snacks as needed. After all, some days we are hungrier than others, our schedule is different, maybe we slept differently, and our needs will change. That is why I always have emergency protein bars and nuts in the glove box of my car too!
