Katie Martin has been helping people achieve their fitness and wellness goals for more than eight years. As a trainer for the popular Sweat App, Katie is passionate about strength training, Pilates and running when it comes to seeing results – but she’s all about building sustainable, healthy habits over quick fixes.
From hosting live workouts to authoring her acclaimed cookbook, The Kitchen Series, Katie is dedicated to inspiring people of all ages on their health and fitness journey.
On October 5, Katie will headline FitHer Expo, Australia’s largest women’s health and fitness event, in Melbourne, where she’ll share her secrets to feeling (and looking) like your strongest self.
5-7 PM
Towards the late afternoon I come back from my afternoon sauna, shower and prepare dinner. While my dinner is cooking, I will use this time to make lists of things I need to do for work tomorrow and tie up any loose ends. I will often post content during this time so I am not on my phone too close to bedtime. Once this is all done, I will eat my dinner and clean up.
7-9 PM
After dinner and tidying up I’ll hang out any washing I have, watch an episode of something on the TV or read my book. Once I’ve had my winddown, I’ll then turn my lights off by 9pm and head to bed.
9-11 PM
I am such a nana when I am home in my usual routine, so I like to get to bed early. From 9pm I am fast asleep!
Are you a night owl or a morning lark?
I’m a morning lark through and through. My alarm goes off between 4:45-5am every morning so you best believe I am fast asleep by 9:30pm.
What is the one thing that you do that always guarantees a good night’s sleep?
My magnesium! I take my tablets each night and then spray my feet with a topical form. It is a game changer. I also won’t consume any coffee after 12pm.
Do you use any technology to track your sleep patterns?
I sure do! I wear an Oura ring and it is the first thing I look at each morning. It has made me so much more accountable with my sleep and it helps me make sure I am getting enough shut eye. This is one part of my health that I will neglect when things get busy so it’s great to have the data available.
Does your wind down routine change between weeknights and the weekend?
Slightly… I am not as strict as going to sleep so soon as I don’t need to be up as early, however my magnesium routine and caffeine cut off time remains the same.
