In a beauty rut? The start of a new year is a great time to take stock of your beauty regime and make some much needed changes. Here are the beauty resolutions we plan to make (and keep!) this New Year.
1. Less Hair Washing and Styling
Daily washing, blow drying and straightening takes a serious toll on our locks so this coming year we are planning on washing our hair a maximum of 2-3 times per week, limiting use of hot styling tools, embracing some good quality hair oils and locking in our regular 8-weekly trims well in advance. Weekly hair treatments are also a must alongside eating a healthy mix of vitamins, protein and minerals to keep our locks in great shape.
2. Embracing Clean Beauty Options
As more clean beauty options arrive on to the market there is less and less need to use chemically laden products which is not only better for your skin but also the environment. Some of our favourites include Tata Harper, Kora Organics, Rodin and Jane Iredale.
We all know that daily a SPF is a necessity, however for most of us this just means relying on a 15+ in our facial products. We will be upping the ante with products that are packed with skin benefits and a higher SPF and making sure we think about all areas that see the sun each day, not just our faces. We love Ultra Violette’s Supreme Screen which acts as a moisturiser, primer and SPF all in one, IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream and Aspect Hydrating Face.
The skin on the back of our hands is a great indicator of our age and health so keeping it moisturised, hydrated and SPF’ed will be a priority this year. Alongside regular mani’s, a good quality hand cream will be a staple in our hand bags.
We love using essential oils in our beauty routine and plan to up the ante in 2020. From calming lavender, fragrant rosemary and uplifting lemon, essential oils not only smell amazing but provide a wide range of health benefits we plan to take advantage of in 2020.
Beauty Editors everywhere will tell you that sleeping on silk pillowcases is the best way to help to keep your skin hydrated, prevent hair breakage and reduce symptoms of asthma and other allergies. They also add a little luxe into the bedroom.
