11 Things to Do If You’re Worried About Your Weight

Worrying about weight is draining, constant and can make you miserable, and it is really not a good headspace to get into. If you do find yourself fretting about your waistline all of the time, then here are some positive things you can do instead.

1. Talk to Your Sneakers

Yes, really. Dust off those sneakers and take them out for a walk or jog. They’re probably bored of sitting around, and exercise is a great stress reliever. It boosts endorphins, which can make you forget why you were worried in the first place.

2. Meet the Green Gang

Introduce more greens into your diet. And no, we’re not suggesting you start grazing! But adding things like spinach, kale, and broccoli can fill you up without weighing you down. Plus, they’re packed with nutrients.

3. Drink Lie a Fish (Water, That Is)

Sometimes when you think you’re hungry, you’re actually just thirsty. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day. It helps with digestion and can curb those false hunger alarms.

4. Become a Sleep Fanatic

Make sleep a priority. Not enough shut-eye can mess with your hormones and lead to weight gain. Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to sleep more?

5. Keep a Food Diary

Tracking what you eat can be an eye-opener. You might not realize just what you are eating throughout the day. Plus, writing it down can make you think twice about reaching for that third cookie and focus on choosing better options.

6. Find a Buddy

Everything’s better with friends, including getting healthier. Team up with a friend who also wants to stay on top of their weight. You can encourage each other and make it more fun.

7. Laugh a Lot

Don’t underestimate the power of laughter—it burns calories and reduces stress. Watch a funny movie, go to a comedy show, or just hang out with your hilarious friend.

8. Ditch the Scales

If weighing yourself throws your whole day off, take a break from the scale. Focus on how you feel: Are you more energetic? Do your clothes fit better? These should be the things you focus on.

9. Snack Smart

Keep healthy snacks handy to prevent impulsive, less-healthy choices. Think almonds, fruit, avocado or yogurt. Having these at the ready can help you avoid the siren call of the vending machine.

10. Celebrate the Small Wins

Did you choose a salad over fries? Take the stairs instead of the elevator? Celebrate those victories! They add up and can help change your mindset about weight.

11. Seek Help

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by weight concerns, it’s okay to seek help. Chat with a nutritionist, therapist, or personal trainer who can provide tailored advice and support, or maybe check out Get Mosh and see what weight loss aids they can offer you. Sometimes, the right help and encouragement is all it takes to move forward with positivity.

At the end of the day, worrying about weight loss will not resolve the problem or make it go away, so it is pointless to do so. Instead, try to be positive, take any action you can, and put those worries behind you because, you know what? The happier and less stressed you are, the easier it will be to reach your goals in the end!
