5 Reasons To Workout In An Infrared Room

Wellness trends come and go, but a few that have stood the test of time are infrared saunas, Pilates and Functional Training. All three of these modalities are frequently credited by celebrities and athletes as a tool they use to keep themselves flexible, strong and of course, for relaxation. But what if you were to put them all together into one 30-minute workout? You will certainly get a lot more bang for your buck. We spoke with Jarad Hobbs, the founder of Joy In Movement (J.I.M) Australia’s infrared wellness movement about why this workout is trending.

Recovery

There has been a lot of research done on infrared heat and has been shown to penetrate deeper into the skin and increase the blood circulation to your muscles, which can assist with healing and blood flow. As a result, it may also help to reduce pain, soreness and fatigue. Infrared is also great for detoxification which can boost your immune system and your mood.

We have found that a bunch of Olympic athletes have been using our lower impact workouts at JIM as a way to recover in between their gruelling training sessions and competitions, and the above reasons is why. While sitting in an infrared sauna is brilliant, moving your body while in one is better.

Get twice as much out of every workout

For your body to adapt and change, you need to add stress to it. By training in an infrared room, you are doing just that. As a result, a 30-minute workout will be the equivalent of a 45-minute workout in most other gyms. So many people are time-poor these days, and they use that as an excuse to forgo their “me” time. We wanted to create a concept that would help people get more out of a shorter amount of time as a result.

May help improve your complexion

Infrared sauna is a favorite of so many celebrities because it helps with detoxification, especially when it comes to your skin. As your pores are sweating out the toxins, this can improve skin elasticity alone with skin tone.

Can improve flexibility

Having good flexibility and mobility are essential for overall health, especially as we age and especially if we have a desk job. Training in a warmer room will not only help your muscles warm up faster, which is great for injury prevention, but you may find that your flexibility improves greatly as a result.

A peaceful environment

The infrared workout room is purposefully dark, with no mirrors, and nothing to disrupt your “me time”. Members don’t want to look in a mirror while they are training, and they certainly don’t want to worry about people watching/judging them. By having a space with a darker atmosphere, you can truly get into the zone, pay attention to how each movement feels and take a minute for yourself.
